ANSI/ISEA 107 Standards

All CrewMark products are certified to ANSI/ISEA 107-2020. Understanding which class you need keeps your crew compliant and safe on the job.

Class 2

Standard Visibility

Required in moderate-risk environments with traffic speeds under 50 mph. Provides upper-body visibility with 360° reflectivity through reflective tape on the torso.

Minimum: 775 sq in of high-visibility material + 201 sq in of retroreflective material

Class 3

Maximum Visibility

Required when traffic speeds exceed 50 mph, in complex backgrounds, or when the task demands full-body awareness. Provides visibility from all angles including the arms.

Minimum: 1,240 sq in of high-visibility material + 310 sq in of retroreflective material

Class R

Roadway Garments

Specifically designed for roadway environments — day and night. Must meet minimum retroreflective performance for optimal visibility under vehicle headlights.

Can be Class 2 or Class 3 — look for the R symbol on the label.

Reading a Label

Every ANSI-certified garment has a label showing its class rating. Look for the ISEA symbol and the class number. If your state or employer requires a specific class, check the label before purchasing — not all hi-vis gear meets the same standard.
